The Association for Manufacturing Technology found a decline in manufacturing orders in June. However, the report is mixed, so follow the link for details. The president of AMT says we're still above historical averages (though he doesn't specify how exactly he means that), and he remains somewhat optimistic about orders for the rest of the year. Meanwhile, Siemens foresees no uptick in its business, citing economic doldrums in China. The long-term outlook for robotic welding is said to be good by ResearchAndMarkets.com.

Investment news: Caterpillar is investing in robotics firm Novarc, and Olis Robotics has received investment for its development of a way to monitor your weld cell remotely.
